Big People Music is a fresh new label out of Manchester. Originally a Garage based club night known as 'BPM', it has since grown into a fledgling bass orientated label primed with plenty of young talent and ambition. To celebrate the label's launch, they've released a 4 track FREE EP of remixes and original material ahead of their first release in September.
The EP's tracks stretch from the likes of Grime and Garage all the way to more House influenced productions from some of
BPM's leading artists.
The opening track, 'Eski Remix', sees 19 year old wiz kid producer
T Vicious layering sampled verses from
Wiley’s 'Crash Bandicoot Freestyle', over an original dancehall inspired and bass filled riddim.
In the second track, production duo
Philly &
Jazz have blended 2step rhythms and vocals from
Sunshine Anderson to create an old-school garage groover that's bound to get feet shuffling.
However, by track 3 things have taken a turn towards four to the floor with
G.S One's Funky House remix of R&B classic, ‘Rock The Boat’ by
Aaliyah. With a vibrant melody and smooth bassline, this track is a proper groover and our personal standout track here at The HotBox.
The final track is a refix of
Dark0's 'HYLI', a classic grime riddim that sample's vocals from
Cassie's 'Me & You' and holds the kind of bassy depths, dark tones and aggression that Grime fans will love.
Overall, this EP is solid release and a fine introduction to a promising new electronic label.
BPM's artists
are certainly one's to look out for in the future. In the meantime, preview the tracks in the player below and grab the whole EP for
