Filip Filipi - Big City Chaser (feat. Mansions On The Moon)

I'm normally a fan of, well...Serbian/Canadian rap......and Filip Filipi's laid back and loose rhythm structure and lyrical construction wouldn't normally suit my style (more of a Kweli and Mos Def man I spose). However there's nothing like the tight production of Mansion On The Moon and The Neptune's Pharrell to spice up a track.
While Filip Filipi rhymes might not be the best, his delivery is solid and suits the overall chilled vibe of the track...factor in that it's a FREE release and this is an easy win for electro/hip-hop fans.

I've been following Mansions on the Moon since they exploded onto the scene about a year back with their excellent mixtape 'Paradise Falls'. The 3 man group (Lane Shaw, Ben Hazlegrove & Ted Wendler) have already collaborated with Diplo, DJ Benzi and Chiddy Bang’s Xaphoon Jones.
To promote the release of their upcoming EP Lightyears, the guys have made the single 'Leaves Fall' available for FREE. The group has landed The Neptune's own Pharrell Williams as producer for the upcoming EP, who's high quality sound is already evident in this first track. Foster The People – Life On The Nickel (Mansions On The Moon Remix)

Two words to sum this track up: Electro goodness. Mansions on the Moon have taken Foster the People's "Life on a Nickel" given it a whole synth laden breath of life. Particularly refreshing in the wake of the incessant rinsing of 'Pumped Up Kicks' on the radio (that song is being destroyed).
Mansions on the Moon's next EP "Lightyears" is due for release in November. Judging by what i've heard from them so far, that's an EP well worth keeping an eye out for.
