Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love (Negativ Remix)

Those Negativ boys are back with another jam, taking Leona Lewis' 'Bleeding Love' and molding it into something twisted and beautiful. The end result is a easy rolling House track, with deceptively dark, off-key tones and all the 4x4 loving any dancefloor will ever need. It takes some serious talent to make Leona samples sound that good, god knows I never thought I'd see the day where her name made it to the HotBox, is there nothing these polish production wizards can't do?

Equator Club - Back On Me

'Back On Me' is second track to be released from Equator Club's much anticipated 'Healing' EP. Along with the EP's title track, which we covered a few weeks ago, 'Back On Me' too heads in a distinctly classic House inspired direction and there's really no denying those souful vibes, Equator Club is Chicago through and through and we love it. Although the leading vocal sample is bound to divide opinion (we like it, but it could grate) this is the kind of track that is so well produced, so crisp, so vibrant...that it will turn heads, move feet and have many an electronic music fan wishing they had better speakers with which to appreciate it. The grooves here are undeniable, and frankly we've come to expect nothing less from Equator Club....if you weren't already buzzing to see what else can come of his 'Healing' EP, then you sure as hell will be now.

TLC - Unpretty (Follow Me Remix)

What's this? A tropical electro remix of a 90s RnB classic, you better believe it. A whole hearted thanks and massive respect goes out out to Follow Me for creating a true Sunday brightener...just because we can't all be in some island paradise now, doesn't mean this little bit of chilled out 90s indulgence won't make you feel like you are.

The Rebel Light - Goodbye Serenade

It's been a while since we've had any real indie on The HotBox, but these guys are just the ticket. LA's The Rebel Light are bringing that DIY spirit back to indie music with hands on production, like recording their vocals at home in the bathroom and the drums in the garden shed, all in order to keep costs down. Of course the mark of a real indie talent is that despite all the cost-cutting, the music quality never suffers, a tricky balance which The Rebel Light have thoroughly achieved. Their track, 'Goodbye Serenade', demonstrates the resulting balance extremely well. The powerful track holds a slight lo-fi, folky quality in terms of production style, which never undercuts the track's ability to emotionally stir its listener, but rather enhances this effect with all the charm of The Rebel Light's indie predecessors and likely influences (think everything from The Libertines to Grizzly Bear and even Mumford & Sons). It may not be the most original sound, but it's this kind of grass roots indie that has has been missing for last few years in a genre that is becoming increasingly (and ironically) commercial. What's more, judging by the synth laden 'Wake Up Your Mind', and the almost Beatles like 'My Heroes Are Dead', the band aren't short of musical range, something which has yet to be fully explored in their three current releases. With the band's debut self produced/recorded EP due in a few weeks, we are pretty excited to see what kind of new material these talented guys come up with....they're certainly one to watch.
While we wait on the EP, check out the video for  'Goodbye Serenade', which the band describe as, 'a bit of an inspirational trip down memory lane...celebrating every milestone of the 20th century onwards, from the first man on the moon to the birth of Facebook.'

Wrongtom & Deemas J - Riot Ting

Wrongtom is perhaps best known for his excellent collaboration album, 'Duppy Writer', with Roots Manuva. However, the London based DJ/Producer has garnered quite the reputation for making quality Reggae, Dancehall and Dub influenced productions, in his own right (not to mention the Indie stuff he did with Hard Fi).
Now Wrongtom has teamed with an old friend and seasoned Dub-MC Deema J, to create 'In East London', out now on the TruThoughts label, it's an album so full of grubby Dub goodness that they've even managed to sneak a Monkees cover in there. To celebrate the album's successful release, Wrongtom is giving away, 'Riot Ting',  the album's third track and a dutty, vibey number. Check the track preview below and grab the FREE download here. Afterall, it's always a good day for Dubs.

Negativ - Liquid Call

Although that 'Bristol House' sound has long since transgressed the pond and made it all the way across Europe and even State-side, it still surprises me now and then to hear music that I particularly associate with South/South-West England cropping up all over the world. In this case it's Polish production duo Negative aka Dubhartt & Maletz that deservedly grabbed my attention. There debut release 'Liquid Call' stays true to it's name as a smooth, fluid House track that draws heavily on the side of all things Deep and Minimal....and of course the Bristol vibe; expect pitched vocal licks and deep bass filled house grooves.
Judging by the amount of talent on show here, we reckon it won't be long before Negativ start blowing up all over the electronic music scene. But don't take our word for it, check out the track below and grab the FREE download here asap for the limit is reached.  WANT MORE? Then follow The HotBox on Facebook and Twitter
